| Thank
you for your interest in our State Forum that is dedicated
to providing educational and networking opportunities to our
over 1600 members. The California Bankruptcy Forum’s
goal, through education and mentoring, is to provide to the
California consumer highly qualified, informed professionals.
CBF seeks to promote the highest standards in the practice
of insolvency and bankruptcy law.
Founded
in 1990, the California Bankruptcy Forum’s membership
is made up of a wide range of outstanding professionals. Attorneys,
Federal Bankruptcy Judges and Trustees, Accountants, Receivers,
Auctioneers, Bankers, Brokers, Turn-around Specialists, Reorganization
and Business Consultants make up the preponderance of the
Forum’s constituency.
There
are seven autonomous Forum chapters statewide, which fall
under our non-profit corporate umbrella. These chapters are
located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, the Central
Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire and
San Diego and are each managed by their own Board of Directors
with their representatives comprising the State Board of Directors.
These chapters individually provide their members with locally
held educational programs during the year, as well as other
social functions designed to provide networking opportunities
for the insolvency professional in the respective communities.
Each
year, in May, the California Bankruptcy Forum Annual Conference
is held in alternate locations within the state. In 2005,
the Conference will be held in Westin Mission Hills Resort
and will be hosted by the Inland Empire Chapter. Highlights
of the Conference will include the opening luncheon’s
speaker, followed by the traditional Judge’s Roundtable
discussions. The annual Conference is a wonderful opportunity
for insolvency professionals from throughout the state to
attend outstanding educational presentations highlighting
important new case law and the ever popular judicial program
discussing significant issues and views from the bench. The
Conference offers up to 7.5 hours of MCLE and CPE credit.
Plus, following the educational sessions, members and their
families may compete in the golf and sports events or enjoy
each evening’s very special social gatherings indigenous
to that year’s locale.
The
California Bankruptcy Forum publishes a scholarly journal
called the California Bankruptcy Journal. It is circulated
to approximately 2,500 recipients, which include the Library
of Congress, it is available on WestLaw, and has been cited
in approximately 50 published opinions, including those of
the US Supreme Court. The Journal is edited by leading bankruptcy
practitioners, professors and judges throughout the country.
The editor-in-chief is Vincent Coscino and managing editor
is Christopher Barclay.
Please
take the time to wander through the pages of our website to
learn about events in the local Forums, their members, and
also access other bankruptcy and insolvency educational sites.
The CBF website is maintained by a dedicated committee, chaired
by Laurel Zaeske.
Hopefully,
you will be inspired to participate in one of the CBF local
or state events. If so, I look forward to the opportunity
to personally welcome you.
My
best regards,
Marilyn
