CALIFORNIA BANKRUPTCY FORUM

Message from the President

Paul J. Pascuzzi

WELCOME TO THE CALIFORNIA BANKRUPTCY FORUM

Amy L. GoldmanThank you for your interest in the California Bankruptcy Forum (the “Forum”). The Forum is dedicated to providing educational and networking opportunities to our approximately 1,100 members. The Forum’s goal, through education and mentoring, is to provide the highest standards in the practice of insolvency and bankruptcy law.

Founded in 1990, the Forum’s membership consists of a wide range of outstanding professionals. Attorneys, federal bankruptcy judges, trustees, accountants, receivers, auctioneers, bankers, brokers, turn-around specialists, reorganization and business consultants are some of the professionals who make up the preponderance of the Forum’s constituency.

There are seven autonomous Forum chapters throughout California which fall under our nonprofit corporate umbrella. These chapters are located in Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire and San Diego. Each of the local forums is managed by its own Board of Directors, with the representatives of each local forum comprising the Forum’s Board of Directors. These chapters separately provide their members with locally held educational programs during the year, as well as other social functions designed to provide networking opportunities for insolvency professionals in each of their respective communities

Each year, in May, the California Bankruptcy Forum’s annual Insolvency Conference is held in various locations throughout California. In 2010, the Forum’s 22nd Annual Conference will be held in Monterey at the beautiful Hyatt Regency. Highlights of the 2010 Annual Conference will include a keynote speaker at the opening luncheon, followed by the numerous interesting programs with interaction with the California Judges. The 2010 Annual Conference provides a wonderful opportunity for insolvency professionals to attend outstanding educational presentations highlighting important issues from the bench. The 2010 Annual Conference will offer 7.5 to 10.5 hours of MCLE and CPE credit. Following the educational sessions, attendees and their families may participate in golf and other recreational activities and enjoy Saturday evening’s very special social gathering.

The CBF publishes a scholarly journal called the California Bankruptcy Journal. It is available on Westlaw and has been cited in more than 70 published opinions, including those of the U.S. Supreme Court. The Journal is edited by leading bankruptcy practitioners, professors and judges throughout the country. The Co-Editors in Chief of the Journal are Jeffrey I. Golden and Eric P. Israel.

Please take some time to explore our website to learn about events in your local forums, to learn about our members and to access other bankruptcy and insolvency education sites. The CBF website is maintained by a dedicated committee chaired by Laurel Zaeske.

My best regards,

Paul J. Pascuzzi
2009-2010 President
